The 10 Most Common Myths of Video Marketing
by eguaogie-eghosa Feb 11, 2022 Views (2.3K)

Now is the moment to begin video marketing if you haven't done so already. Video marketing has become a must-have for any organization, with traditional marketing's effectiveness declining and video's popularity soaring. But before you get into it; here are ten myths about video marketing that should be cleared up:

Myth 1:

If you don't have a few hundred thousand dollars in marketing budget, you won't be able to afford a spectacular film. Fact: Great videos are the result of ingenuity and careful planning rather than large marketing dollars. With the appropriate planning, even a few thousand dollars can be enough to make a spectacular video, but under $10,000 should get you a high-end professional cameraman, superb editing, a compelling premise, and accomplished direction.

Myth 2:

Videos are only useful for a restricted number of purposes in marketing. Fact: A single day shot can yield enough footage for multiple videos aimed at distinct customer groups. Aside from several cuts, videos can be posted on social media platforms, YouTube, the company's website, and even other websites to promote your products or services.

Myth 3:

It's difficult to come up with enough content for a video. Fact: Less is more, therefore don't worry if you don't have a lot of information. Concentrate on your company's core messaging and offerings, particularly what sets it different from competitors.

Myth 4:

You'll need someone from the firm who can act well in front of the camera. Fact: While company executives and workers make excellent interview subjects, your customers can also make excellent corporate video prospects. Hiring experienced actors for a business video, on the other hand, is a fantastic option with numerous benefits.

Myth 5:

If I make a minor alteration to a video, the corporation will charge me more. Fact: During the post-production phase, a competent, customer-service oriented video production business will make editing changes until you're satisfied with the outcome. At all phases of the process, changes are inevitable, thus a good production business should assist you and endeavour to ensure that you are satisfied with the final output.

Myth 6:

Having a video, even if of poor quality, is preferable to having none at all. Fact: Having a low-quality, the amateur video will not help you develop trust with clients or potential customers. It detracts from your marketing efforts by casting doubt on the quality control and ideals of your organization. How can your clients trust you to provide a quality service or provide reliable items if you can't be bothered to develop a good film showcasing your company? According to Brightcove, a marketing firm, 62 per cent of consumers have a bad perception of a brand with a low-quality video, and 23 per cent are hesitant to buy from it.

Myth 7:

Making a video takes months, but we need one now. Fact: While a typical video production schedule is 6-8 weeks, if you have a clear vision and desire to make a video, you can drastically shorten the timeframe. A rush order for video production is usually more expensive, but with careful planning, you may get from approved bids to completed video in under a month. We've had clients request finished videos in as little as two or three weeks, and we've always been able to meet their deadlines.

Myth 8:

It will cost 10 times as much to make ten product videos as it will do one. Producing a large number of videos at once results in significant cost savings. Most of the time, ten product films may be shot in two days, as seen in the prior example. In the editing room, a video with a similar format could save time. While a single product film may cost $1,500, ten product videos might cost as little as $7,500, a savings of 50%.

Myth 9:

Every video made has a one-year shelf life. Fact: The majority of our clients keep their movies for several years before upgrading or reworking them. Although a video refresh is generally less expensive than totally rebuilding a movie, most high-quality videos may be used as important marketing assets for years with proper preparation and coaching.

Myth 10:

For marketing purposes, a business only requires one video. Fact: A single video, such as an explainer or a company overview, is a good place to start. Additional collateral is always beneficial, much like blog posts, customer testimonials, and other marketing items. Because most businesses sell a variety of goods or services, having various movies on hand is often the best option.
